We perform four concerts per year. The level of difficulty ranges from Grade 3 to Grade 5. Our members range in age from 15 -75. Many members have participated for over 20 years! We come from Montrose, Ouray, Ridgway, Delta, Cederedge and Fruita. The musical ability of our members ranges from Middle School students, casual players, band directors, and professional musicians. We are here because we love to play our instruments and strive to enhance our musical abilities.
Toby King has been our enthusiastic musical director since 2008. He holds a Master’s Degree in Instrumental Conducting and Music Education, and has taught band and orchestra in Colorado Public Schools. Currently he holds a full-time position with Raymond James Financial Services. However, Toby’s love of music and performing has never waned, as he stays fully immersed in music while still pursuing his financial career. He plays saxophone with the Praise Team at Delta First Assembly of God, Soul Habit, Croonatics, and serves as a substitute player for the Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra and the Swing City Express Jazz Band in Grand Junction.
The Montrose Community Band is privileged to rehearse in the Montrose High School band room most Monday nights from 7-8:30 pm.
Auditions are not required. We encourage and invite you to attend any of our rehearsals and witness first hand the pleasure of making music in a community setting.
